I met Lauren a couple of years ago when I shot Shannon and Matt’s wedding. She was their hair and makeup artist and she followed my work after that. I was so excited to hear from her when she and Bobby got engaged! They have one of the cutest stories in how they met. In fact, Lauren’s 2 year old daughter is a great matchmaker apparently! Bobby was a code enforcement officer for the city of Alpharetta working the event and Lauren was there with my family celebrating the holiday season! She was pushing her daughter around in a stroller for most of the night because it was raining. Towards the end of the night it stopped raining so she let her (at the time) 18 month old get of the stroller and walk around. As soon as she got out the stroller fell backward with all the stuff on it. (If you’re a parent, you know how that is! Silly physics!) Bobby came running over to help pick up the stroller. They said hello and then he walked away. Well her daughter had other ideas… she started running towards Bobby… he turned around and stopped her before she got any further away. He gave Lauren his card and the rest is history!
I loved getting to meet with Lauren and Bobby for their Sope Creek engagement pictures. Sope Creek is one of my favorite places to do engagement pictures, but I haven’t been in a couple of years. One of the most recent times I went, I did senior pictures for a former student of mine and ended up getting us lost and took us on a 3 mile hike with her mom and sisters in tow! I’ll never get that wrong again! I know where to go now for my Sope Creek engagement pictures! It was a hot and humid day, but not as bad as some of the days could be (haha- that doesn’t say much with Georgia seeing as it’s always hot and humid in the summer!) Lauren cracked me up as she brought a small handheld fan to use to cool off- it was a great idea! She said she felt a little silly walking around in the woods in a dress with a handheld fan. I told her, “You gotta do what you gotta do! Especially when you’re taking pictures!”
There is this one spot by the water that I love taking pictures from with the couple on the rocks, but it requires me to get into the water and walk across a spot with decent current. I’ve done it a few times and always find it worth it. I was walking and didn’t realize that the water got really deep at one point, so as I stepped, I ended up with water up to my waist! Luckily I held onto my camera and kept it high in the air as I dropped into the water! And I’m not the only one to get wet this day! Lauren and Bobby wanted to get in the water as well up to their ankles/calves, so after their pictures were all finished and I was slowly making my way back to the shore, apparently Bobby fell in! I didn’t notice until I got back to the side and saw him soaked! Poor thing! But we all decided it was worth he and I getting a “little wet” in order to get some great Sope Creek engagement pictures!
I can’t wait for their wedding this October! We are going to have a blast!
This is my favorite spot I was mentioning for Sope Creek engagement pictures! One of the coolest spots for Sope Creek engagement pictures Look at that ring! Oh I love this one so much!
