Piedmont Park Proposal Photographer | Darien and Kristine

I think I have unofficially become THE Piedmont Park proposal photographer! haha! I shoot engagement sessions all of the time here, and it’s slowly turning into just as many proposals! I love getting to be a Piedmont Park proposal photographer, so when Darien contacted me for his proposal to Kristine, we talked about a couple of possibilities and decided Piedmont Park would be a perfect location for their proposal!

I sent Darien over to my blog to check out some Piedmont Park ideas and he picked a spot that I had recently shot another proposal. He and Kristine live near the park, so Darien went on his own one afternoon to check out the spot he had picked to make sure he liked it. It’s kind of a random spot near the lake, but it’s perfect for a quiet spot with no one in the background and the city in the backdrop as well.

What I also love about it is that I can stand across the road from the couple with my camera and wait until they walk up. There’s no way she’s looking at me and wondering “why is there a photographer over there taking pictures in the most popular park in Atlanta?” It’s one of my favorite parts of being a Piedmont Park proposal photographer- I can “hide” in plain sight and the girls never suspect!

You can see in the pictures that Kristine was a little confused at why they were stopping at this spot to “look at the water.” When Darien gets down on one knee, she initially is smile really big, but then the moment registers to her and she has the best shocked face ever! She told me later that she had a feeling he might propose that evening because of what he was wearing (which isn’t what he normally wears), but she expected it at the next location, not this one; so she was very shocked when he asked her to marry him at that moment.
