I have lived in Roswell for almost 14 years now and I love not only living here, but I love working here! I absolutely LOVE being a Roswell family photographer! Growing up as an Atlanta suburbanite, I have loved living in Roswell the most out of all of the suburb’s I have lived in, which is now a total of five.
I am listing some of my favorite Roswell family photographer locations in this post! I hope you enjoy it and find it helpful! Also, please note, that as a Roswell family photographer, the city of Roswell requires all photographers to have a permit to shoot in the city. I purchase mine annually and keep it up to date in order to be able to shoot in this amazing town. Whether I’m your photographer or not, I always encourage clients to make sure their photographer has the proper permits to shoot here.
1) Roswell Town Square
This one is my go-to spot for photos. I’m almost hesitant to share it. I know people know of this location, but I rarely see photographers using it. There’s often people walking and visiting the square, the city uses it for events, and I always see homecoming and prom pictures here, but I rarely see photographers utilizing it the way I do. I love the light here at any time of the day, it’s super close to my home, and is a beautiful backdrop for pictures.
2) Roswell Square Center
This location is directly across the street from the Roswell Town Square and another favorite of mine. They redid this space a couple of years ago and it is an incredible new spot with cute restaurants like Souper Jenny. I also love it as it’s a great place to be a Roswell family photographer. This space at the Roswell Square isn’t huge, but it has so many adorable spots for pictures. I love the shops around the square and the other small businesses at the square. My favorite tree got hit by lightening over a year ago, so it makes me sad it’s not there anyone, but I still love this spot!
3) Barrington Hall
This location has quickly become the most popular spot in Roswell for family pictures. With the historic home as the main backdrop, the pretty garden space, the huge front and back lawns, it is a beautiful backdrop for any Roswell family photographer. The biggest issue with this area is it’s popularity. You can show up on a Sunday afternoon in the fall and find dozens of photographers taking pictures of clients. It can be a little bit of a free for all if people aren’t considerate of others. It also can be a bit of a challenge on the back to edit if there are a lot of people in the background of your pictures.
4) Bulloch Hall
Not as well known as Barrington Hall, but still popular is Bulloch Hall right down the road. This spot has amazing light in the afternoons and is a beautiful backdrop for beautiful family pictures. I love how much quieter it is here than Barrington, but still gives a similar set of pictures from this location.
5) Garrard Landing
This is the one location that is not within a mile of the historic downtown area of Roswell. In fact, it’s on the opposite side in East Roswell, as far east as you can get before jumping into Gwinnett County. I have a love-hate relationship with this location. Similar to some of the historic homes in Roswell, this spot is SUPER popular, especially in the fall. You can show up on a Sunday afternoon and easily find 10-20 photographers with families taking pictures. It becomes a bit of a challenge when taking pictures, but it’s manageable if everyone there is kind and doesn’t take over a particular spot for too long.
6) Roswell Mill
I usually avoid the Roswell Mill in the fall for family pictures due to it’s popularity. This spot is a hiking location, but it is also used frequently for pictures. It’s located next to two wedding venues, so this spot is often used for those venues as well. And don’t get me started on the homecoming and prom pictures that are taken here by tons of high schoolers each fall and spring! I’m not complaining that they are there, just that it adds to the chaos of the location. BUT when it’s a quieter time at the Roswell Mill, it’s a top spot for beautiful pictures by the water with the dam at Vickery Creek in the background.
7) Roswell Area Park
I’m almost hesitant to share this one online as it’s a little hidden gem of mine. All of the photographers know of many of these other locations, but this one is my little secret. I rarely see another photographer here, the light is always so great, and it provides a backdrop for some very pretty pictures. I love this little spot!
Happiest baby ever! What an adorable family!

Beautiful photos and love all the locations, especially the Roswell Mill with the waterfall.
