I love this industry- the creatives industry that is. I love the people I have met and the friendships I have been able to create through being a photographer. I have made friends with hand letterers, florists, cake bakers, dress designers, make up artists, wedding and party planners, and even other photographers. I love seeing the different gifts the Lord has gifted each and everyone of us and how we can come together for some awesome collaborations at weddings, styled shoots, and other events. It’s like having puzzle pieces that all fit together to make one cohesive and amazing look.
Two of my good friends in the industry are Shelly Jones of Pastry Shells and Lanta Carroll of Letters by Lanta. I met Shelly at one of our local Rising Tide Society: Tuesdays Together meetings a while back and have had a fun time getting to know each other since then. Lanta, I found on Instagram and had been following for some time when I decided to reach out and email her to see if she wanted to get coffee sometime. Since then, we have kept in touch and I have loved seeing her work even more on Instagram now that I have a face and voice behind the work.
A few months ago, Shelly texted me to ask if I would be interested in taking pictures for her and Lanta for a project they had planned. Of course I told them I would love to help them out! In addition to the gorgeous cakes Shelly makes, she also makes cookies. We often share pictures with each other of the cookies we have each made. I always love seeing what she comes up with. So between Shelly’s cookie skills and Lanta’s hand lettering, they have decided to team up for an awesome one-of-a-kind workshop that combines these two skills!
Shelly will be showing the class how to make her gorgeous cookies while Lanta teaches the class how to hand letter and write on these cookies. What a cool idea!!!! I know from personal experience that cookie decorating often involves a lot of writing, so getting these two classes combined into one is awesome! If you have been interested in cookie decorating and learning how to hand letter, this class is for you!
