A Surprise Duck Pond Proposal for Connor and Holland
Connor and Holland’s love story started in college. From day one, they clicked. Years later, Connor knew it was time to take the next step.
He reached out to me to help plan a surprise Duck Pond proposal in Buckhead. This quiet little spot is one of Atlanta’s hidden gems. With the trees, the water, and the charm, it was the perfect place. He lives in Dallas currently while Holland lives in the Atlanta area. Holland’s sister lives close to the Duck Pond, so we planned out details to get her there without it being odd or out of the ordinary.
We worked out every detail. Timing, location, and even the direction he would face. I have a map I send to my Duck Pond proposal guys to help make sure we are on the same page exactly where we want them to be. Connor wanted everything to go smoothly—and it did. We even had Holland’s sister, Cater, there with me in disguise with a hat and sun glasses to record the proposal on camera while I shot the images. It couldn’t have worked out more perfect!
Holland thought they were just taking a walk so that Connor could see the Duck Pond for the first time. When they got to the spot, he dropped to one knee. Her face lit up with shock and joy. I’ve never seen a more shocked girl at any of my proposals! It was sweet, emotional, and so real. I loved capturing every second.
After the big “yes,” we moved into a mini engagement session. Holland still couldn’t stop smiling. They laughed, danced, and soaked it all in. The Duck Pond gave us a quiet backdrop. The light hit just right. It felt like magic.
A surprise Duck Pond proposal is always special, but this one felt extra meaningful. You could see how much they love each other. It was calm and romantic—just like them. One of my favorite moments was when Holland asked me about having a successful marriage when I told them I have been married 17 years. I got to share some wisdom and advice that they both soaked in and told me “we will forever remember this and apply it to our marriage.” It’s moments like these that while I enjoy taking pictures, I love even more getting to pour into my couples!
Connor nailed every detail. Holland had no idea what was coming. That made a surprise Duck Pond proposal even better. It was pure, joyful, and full of love. Congratulations to these two college sweethearts! I can’t wait to see where their story goes next!
