Berry College | Rome, GA | September 10, 2016
It all started back in 2007 when I was a senior and Ashley was a freshmen. I was her RA on 3rd East Mary at Berry College; and with nearly 50 girls on the hall, it’s impossible to become close to all of them, but I had such a fun with getting to know Ashley that year as her RA. Our personalities are very similar in that we are very bubbly and outgoing… oh and sarcastic, which is one of the things that I think drew me to her.
Actually, sarcastic is kind of how she met Dan! By chance, both of them were at Five Guys Burgers one night in South Carolina. Dan was in line in front of Ashley at one of those new Coke freestyle machines (when they were still really new). Dan had no idea how to use the machine and was a little tripped up at the new-fangled-technology. Ashley, being the kind and sweet girl she is, decided to make fun of Dan and tease him for his lack of knowledge in this machinery. After teasing him, she did end up helping him; and wouldn’t you know? They ended up eating dinner together and hung out until like two in the morning. The rest is pretty much history!
I love that I got to go back up to Berry for another wedding. It’s been years since I have had the chance to get up there for a wedding, so when Ashley contacted me back in January to shoot her wedding, I was thrilled! As a former student and having got married up there myself, I mean, I am a little biased, but I pretty much think Berry is the prettiest campus in the world. Well, I’m not too biased, because continually, Berry is listed in the top rankings for most beautiful campus in the world. In fact, recently, it was listed by the Travel Channel as a resort-like college campus- and in that article is so pretty that it got two pictures featured when the other campuses got one… hehe.
Ashley and Dan’s day was perfect! The weather couldn’t have been better- well maybe slightly cooler, but Frost Chapel in which they got married in doesn’t have air conditioning; and I have participated and been in weddings in May, June, August, and September- and this was most definitely the coolest I’ve ever had it in Frost. We had a ton of time throughout the day to take pictures around the gorgeous campus, including before and after the ceremony. I think in all, we took almost 2 hours of portrait pictures of the two of them! Their casual and very intimate reception was at a yummy local restaurant in downtown Rome. Mmmmm… I miss Harvest Moon.
Congrats to Ashley and Dan. Thanks so much for allowing me to be a part of your big day. Thank you to Dan for your service in the Coast Guard! And a BIG special shout out to Michelle Lieb of Lieb Photographic for her amazing help in second shooting with me on Saturday! You rocked it out! (Find out on Thursday why Ben wasn’t with me at this wedding!)
So funny story… Ashley’s dress was bustled when I got there, so I took it out for pictures. When they were finished dressing her, they couldn’t remember where/how to bustle her dress; so I did it. I ended up bustling her dress a number of times during the day!
First Look time! Such a sweet moment!
I loved Ashley’s faces all day- she was smiles and laughter all day!
After their First Look at the Old Gate of Opportunity, we went up to the Ford Buildings to take pics. This is the dorm area in which Ashley and I met each other.
Ashley made this sign. It was awesome! “Don’t be this guy…” hahaha
Married!!! You may kiss the bride!
We finished all of the family pictures before the ceremony, so we had some extra time afterwards to go to the mill and WinShape! These spots turned out to be such a great idea!
Beautiful WinShape Retreat… I love you

I can’t even begin to express how over the moon thrilled I am with Mandi shooting our wedding photos. Mandi and her assistant Michelle arrived prompt and pumped about taking pictures for our wedding. They remained entirely excited and professional the ENTIRE day! Even through the Georgia heat!! Besides the incredible shots, she took the lead for directing not only us, but our families in a timely and direct manner to get the best shot of everyone. I loved her ideas and enthusiasm!
While I knew Mandi from college, her professionalism and ability to be personable to everyone who attended our wedding is what I really admire. We are so excited that she was a part of our Big Day and would definitely recommend her for anyone else who is in need of a wonderful photographer!
Awe, Ashley! Y’all are simply the best! Thank you so much for your kind words! This made my day!!
