This past weekend I had the opportunity to shoot the sweetest proposal at Stone Mountain for Ellen and Jason! Jason emailed me in September with ideas for his proposal to Ellen. After some back and forth and working through plans, he decided he’d like to do a proposal at Stone Mountain as it was the location of their first date.
We met up the same week to scope out a handful of location potentials. I showed him some of my ideas and what I thought would work and ultimately he picked the Grist Mill for their intimate proposal… well, almost intimate. We had a guy there recording the water and mill that was there before, during, and after the proposal; but other than that, it was a very private location just the three… well four of us! haha
Jason and I planned their proposal at Stone Mountain to start out as a photo session that he hired a photographer to do for the two of them. They have been dating for two years and it’s something she had been wanting to do, so it was a perfect opportunity to get her there in front of a photographer with no suspicion.
We shot for about 5 minutes and then I set them up for the shot. Jason and I had it ready ahead of time along with the exact spot, so he knew when it was time to propose. I told Ellen that I wanted her to face a direction and while she was doing that, Jason was behind her getting down on one knee. I had her turnaround and when she did, she saw Jason proposing. Her reaction was priceless and one of the absolute sweetest I’ve seen. They were so much fun to capture in the moment and moments after for their proposal at Stone Mountain.
Afterwards, we went around the area and took pictures for their engagement session. We finished up at the Grist Mill and went over a gorgeous part of the mountain at the base for some sweet pictures. Finally, we headed up to the top of the mountain for some end-of-session pictures which turned out to be a perfect ending of their session. And funny enough, I ran into my sister-in-law’s brother and another photographer friend while up there! I always somehow end up running into people I know everywhere I go, including the top of Stone Mountain on a random Friday afternoon!
Thank you Jason for including me for your proposal to Ellen. It truly was a joy to capture for y’all!
Proposal time! Ellen was so shocked!
So much happiness!
I walked around to the other side for another angle and more sweet pictures of them celebrating! “We are getting married!!!” So much laughter and joy from these two! I loved this spot for their pictures!
such a sweet proposal and the perfect location!
