How It Started

Y’all, how has it been that I’ve been an Atlanta wedding photographer for 16 years? By the time I hit the end of 2023, I will have shot a full 16 years as an Atlanta wedding photographer. I started my little business at the beginning of 2008, shortly after I got married myself, not knowing much about wedding photography honestly. I was a full time middle school teacher at the time and loved my job. I wasn’t looking to quit or replace my job with photography, but instead, do something that I considered fun on the side of teaching. Little did I know how far this little side gig would take me 16 years later.

I quit teaching in 2014 to stay at home with Levi. (Also, how has that been almost 10 full years ago??) I had my business for 6.5 years at that point, so it was an easy transition into doing it a bit more while being at home with my son. I missed teaching, but not in the way I thought I would. Could you believe that I was able to fill my time with taking care of my son and working full time as an Atlanta wedding photographer? haha! By the end of 2015, I was shooting full time with over 20 weddings that year. I realized that was a little more than I had wanted, so I cut back a bit and now I shoot about 10-12 weddings a year and love the work-life balance!

How Far I’ve Come

I love seeing how much I’ve grown since 2008 (seriously, check out that blog post from a while back that shows my first engagement session and wedding), how far I’ve come since buying my little Nikon D40 that I shot my first engagement session ever on, and how much I’ve learned since that first wedding I shot in May of 2008.

With over 250 weddings to date, I have shot all over as an Atlanta wedding photographer. Y’all, I LOVE my job. I love serving couples. I love getting to know them and their families and friends. I love creating art through my pictures. I am so blessed to get to do a job that I love with all my heart.

Where I am Going

I cannot wait to see where 2024 and beyond takes me as an Atlanta wedding photographer! As my kids get older and get busier on the weekends, I know that I want to be present for them and their sporting events. I know that I will not miss every weekend for shooting weddings, so I plan on taking on limited weddings for 2024, which I am very excited about being exclusive and selective for my dates. I will be cutting off my weddings at 10 for 2024 and I’m excited to see which 10 I get to shoot! I’m over halfway there already!

For fun, check out some of my favorite images from the past few years!
