Andrew contacted me this week for his proposal at Roswell Mill to Taylor. He had made plans to do it prior to contacting me, so I was excited that I was available for their proposal at Roswell Mill! Andrew and I met up a few days before the proposal to setup the details of where we wanted to do the shoot. When I shoot at the mill, I know that it is a popular location for hiking, pictures, and grilling out… yes you read that correctly. Grilling out. I have seen families carry mini grills out to the creek near the waterfall and grill out.
For this reason, whenever I shoot a proposal at Roswell Mill, I plan out a Plan A spot, usually a spot with the waterfall in the background, and a Plan B, a spot somewhere else not with the waterfall nearby that is more secluded by the water, yet easy to get to. The last thing I ever want it to show up and a whole family is grilling and playing music where I’m planning to shoot pictures. Now, if we pick a time of the day that I know it will be more empty, we usually just plan to shoot near the waterfall; but we were shooting Taylor and Andrew’s proposal near sunset on a pretty day.
I showed up to our Plan A spot and someone was taking family pictures there. We had a Plan A.5 which meant we were going to stick to the waterfall area, just slightly adjusted from where we were originally going to do it. I texted Andrew and we were set up to go. I hid “in plain sight” by taking pictures of the waterfall and nature when they walked up. He took a picture of her and they were about to take a selfie when I asked “would y’all like me to take a picture for you?” I took one with her phone and right after that moment, Andrew hopped down on one knee and I snapped pictures (with my camera at that point) of him asking Taylor to marry him.
She was SHOCKED, y’all. I loved her face and how much she smiled, laughed, and just had a pure look of shock on her face. She had NO IDEA it was happening! I probably got like 20-30 pictures of her over the course of 5 minutes just in absolute shock. I loved it!
We had fun afterwards taking engagement pictures of the two of them. Congratulations Taylor and Andrew! Thanks for having me for your proposal at Roswell Mill!
