Chase & Kristin’s Epic Publix Half Marathon Proposal

I’ve been shooting for 17 years with a key focus on proposals the past 5 or so years. In all of the proposals I have done, this one was one that I have never done! This Publix Half Marathon proposal was one that goes down in the record book!

Some couples meet through mutual friends. Others connect online; but for Chase and Kristin, their bond grew through a shared love of running. Race after race, they cheered each other on, pushing toward the finish line together. So when it came time to propose, Chase knew exactly where it had to happen—at the end of a race. And not just any race. Kristin had one request: it had to be epic, like a half or full marathon, no proposals after a “dinky 5k.” 🙂

The Publix Half Marathon was the perfect choice. Chase reached out to me, and we carefully planned the big moment. With the help of the Atlanta Track Club, we secured a spot in the finisher’s area, ready for Kristin to complete the race. They were so great in helping Chase plan it ahead of time and letting us be at the end to get some amazing pictures. The excitement built as runners crossed the finish line. Then, there she was—Kristin, finishing strong after 13.1 miles with Chase ready with flowers in hand.

As soon as she crossed, Chase was ready. He walked up to Kristin with the flowers, a look of confusion on her face for a brief moment before she realized what was happening. He placed her finishers medal around her neck, and he then dropped to one knee, right there at the end of the Publix Half Marathon, and asked the biggest question of his life. Kristin’s tired legs didn’t stop her from saying “YES!” With family and onlookers to share in the moment, it was filled with cheers, happy tears, and the perfect blend of exhaustion and excitement.

After the proposal, we captured a mini engagement session. The post-race glow, the medals, and the pure joy on their faces made for incredible photos. Their family joined in to celebrate, making the moment even more special.

A Publix Half Marathon proposal doesn’t get much better than this—love, determination, and an unforgettable finish. Chase and Kristin proved that the best races are the ones you run together, from start to forever.
