For years I have been going to the Sawnee Mountain Indian Seats for hiking. It’s in Cumming, just over 30 minutes from me, so it’s a great hike with an amazing view at the top. I love this location for the opportunity to have quick hike with an amazing view or you can park at the base of the mountain and go up from there, making the trip much longer. I’ve had a vision in my head to take a couple for an engagement session at the Sawnee Mountain Indian Seats, so when Carly and Andrew basically gave me free reign to pick their engagement session location, I suggested a few locations based on her preference and then thought of Sawnee Mountain Indian Seats and threw it out there. They agreed and I was so excited they said yes!
I knew Sawnee Mountain Indian Seats would be crowded as it’s a very popular spot to visit thanks to the gorgeous views, but I also know my photography skills and knew I could make it work to look like we had the whole place to ourselves! Carly remarked at the end of the session, “I’m so impressed with your work to get the shot! You don’t give up and make it happen!” She was referring to my crazy climbing all over the place and how we went back to a couple of spots once people cleared out in order to make use of the space. I am not afraid to climb all over the place for a good picture. I told them about the time I climbed on the top of a train to get a wedding party picture, so climbing down a rock face was easy-peasy! haha
Carly and Andrew are simply the sweetest! They met on Hinge three years ago. Andrew was Carly’s first and only match on the app, so they succeeded in their sloan of wanting to be the app that gets deleted! I actually did Carly and Andrew’s Avalon proposal back in December, so when they called me to book me for their wedding this fall at the Country Club of the South, I was very excited! And funny story, I only met Carly in December for the first time, but I feel like I have known her for years due to my connection with her mom. I attend a Bible study in Roswell in which her mom was the teaching leader for majority of the years I have attended, so I got to know Elizabeth in the years she was leading and I was attending. I got to know parts of Carly’s story through her mom, so it was fun getting to finally meet her after hearing such great thing about her!
I had the best time with them yesterday and cannot wait until their wedding in September! Thanks for trusting me with these images for y’all!
I might have climbed down the rocks a bit to get this shot! (one of the spots Carly was referring to in, “I’ll do anything to get the shot!” Andrew was the best helping Carly walk around on the rocks in heels! We were done and I noticed a large group leaving that had been occupying this rock, so we walked back up to this spot to get shots! I’m so glad we did! Another spot that had been occupied and we came back to! I love this shot so much!
Sawnee Mountain Indian Seats definitely looks like it was worth the climb! What a beautiful session! (And high fives to her for navigating it in heels!!)
