The Mill at Yellow River | Portersdale, GA | September 25, 2015
I shot this epic wedding at The Mill at Yellow River with Alicia and Alex and had a blast! I met Alicia at one of our bridal shows earlier in the year, and I immediately fell in love with Alicia’s smile and laughter. She and Alex came over to meet with Ben and me after the show and Ben and I knew that they would be a perfect fit for us! From Alex’s love for the Falcons that he shares with Ben and me to Alicia being a high school teacher, we had a lot of stuff in common!
We did their engagement pictures earlier this year at The Goat Farm in downtown Atlanta. We had a blast at this eclectic area! It had chickens and goats running around while we took their pictures! After this session, I knew we would have an amazing time at The Mill at Yellow River!!
Alicia and Alex are simply the best! They are proof that my couples can find love anywhere! I absolutely love their love story and how they met. Anyone know what I mean when I say, “they both swiped right”? In the world of online dating, Alicia and Alex didn’t just meet online, they met using a dating app on their phone! I love it! How fun is that?! Forget Match.com, let’s meet on Tinder!
If you live in Atlanta, you know it’s been raining for nearly four days straight. It’s been dreary and gross outside all weekend. Well, I woke up on Saturday morning to another dreary and rainy day outside. I prayed that it would stop raining long enough for us to at least go outside and take some pictures, because when I first saw The Mill at Yellow River online, I fell in love with how gorgeous it was and definitely wanted to take pictures outside there!
Well, God answered my prayers as it stopped raining literally right when we were about to do their First Look! We still did the First Look inside, but Alicia was all game for some awesome pictures outside at The Mill at Yellow River. There was a spot where we could climb down and old window (the size of a door) and climb down a pretty steep set of steps that opened up right onto the river. I hoped she would be adventurous, because I knew this spot would be worth it all. Y’all, Alicia ROCKED IT! She was totally for it! Later that night, she told me her favorite part of the day was going down to the rocks and taking pictures down there. That right there just made my day!
We were able to take all of our wedding party pictures outside as well, and while we were taking them, we decided to go ahead and re-move the wedding back outside. I am soon glad we did! Even though it rained some during the ceremony, the view and lighting was perfect for the ceremony! Alicia was go-with-the-flow all day and had a great time all day! She wasn’t going to let a little rain ruin her wedding day. In fact, she embraced it!
Congrats to Alicia and Alex! Thank you so much for allowing Ben and me to be a part of your big day and take pictures for y’all!
