It’s not often that I get to say that I have known the bride for sixteen years. Even when I shot weddings for my high schools friends back when I started 11 years ago, I wasn’t old enough to have known my middle or high school friends that long yet. Here I am in my mid-30’s and SIXTEEN years removed from when I first started Berry college as a freshman in 2003. Here I am sixteen years later shooting a Berry wedding for yet another friend, but this one I knew from the beginning of my time at Berry. Kelli lived on my freshman hall with me and later on had most of her accounting major classes with my husband, Joshua, so we have a lot of fun history with Kelli! Because of this, Kelli and David’s wedding was a little mini Berry reunion! There were 10 of us from the wedding who all lived on our freshman hall along with many other former students!
I always love a Berry wedding! Like y’all, I get so excited when I get an inquiry for a wedding there. Nothing makes me happier than getting to go back up for a Berry wedding. The campus is still one of my favorite places in the world not only because I went there as a student, but just because of how gorgeous the campus is. If you’ve never visited the campus, it is a great place to go hike and tour just for the sheer beauty of the campus. I feel like I’m going home when I head up to the mountain (what we call Berry often). I’m excited to already get to go back next year for my next Berry wedding!
Kelli and David had a lot of personal touches throughout their day from people in their lives who loved them dearly. Their wedding cake was made by a good friend of theirs as well as the the groom’s cake being made by Kelli’s aunt. Kelli’s sister made a cute replica of the couple and their pets for the cake table. Kelli’s sweet mom made all of the signs for the day as well. They had family and good friends provide music for both the wedding and reception. I love how many people pitched in to make Kelli and David’s wedding day super special.
Another fun personal connection to Kelli and David’s Berry wedding is that Joshua and I got married in the same chapel almost 12 years ago! When I shoot a Berry wedding, I usually shoot at Frost Chapel on the mountain campus of Berry, so it’s fun when I get to go back to College Chapel for a Berry wedding.
We had such a wonderful day! The whole day was filled with laughter and smiles and just tons of fun! Thanks Kelli and David for having Audrey and me join y’all for your special day! We had such a wonderful time! I hope y’all had the most amazing time in Hawaii! It looked epic!
I love all of the details from Kelli’s wedding mixed in with the items from my styling kit!I love all of the rings! Kelli is the first bride to wear the new Rothy’s. I know I’ll see more of these from future brides! One of my favorite things about a Berry wedding is the locations around campus to get ready Kelli’s sweet grandma getting ready Keeping the flower girls content while the ladies get ready First Look time! They read letters to each other during their First Look. I love this tradition! I will forever love these trees for a Berry wedding! The florals from Bussey’s Florist are gorgeous! I love their work and always recommend them to my Berry wedding brides! I love my second shooters! They always rock! While I was far back getting a wide shot, Audrey was close up off to the side grabbing a closer shot of similar moments. Kelli’s dress had pockets! Pockets are the best! One of my favorites of the today! Another favorite! I love it when couples do a ceremony exit! Kelli and David travel a lot, so their travel theme for their wedding was perfect! Each table had a different place they have been and their seating chart was fitting for the theme as well! Ten girls who started college in 2003 all living on the same hall on 2nd East Mary. I hopped into the picture for this one! In my over 120 weddings I have shot, I can say I have never had a groomsman pull out a piece of toast during their toast. Ha! Thanks Audrey for many of these awesome dance shots at the reception while we snuck out for couple portraits! Lots of fun dancing the night away! Kelli makes the cutest “excited” face. We snuck outside at the end of the evening for some portraits. Fun random fact: my dorm room my senior year was that far back top window by the big magnolia, and I got engaged just yards away from this spot. Goodnight to all! What the perfect end to the day!
