I love shooting proposals! I have done 8 of them so far this year and cannot wait until my next one! Eric and Paula got engaged with their Canoe proposal a couple of months ago at Canoe in Atlanta. It’s a popular restaurant with yummy food. It even has a duck burger that was featured on The Best Thing I Ever Ate on Food Network. I happened to see it right before this proposal and have been craving this burger ever since!
Eric contacted me for his Canoe proposal idea to Paula a month or so before popping the question. We met at Canoe one afternoon to plan out the details of him asking Paula to marry him. The restaurant has a garden area behind the building right along the Chattahoochee River. It was the perfect backdrop for his Canoe proposal!
I got there a little before they did and sat in the garden waiting for them to show up. They came and sat on one of the benches and had a sweet talk for about 10 minutes. I tried to be inconspicuous sitting on another bench and not be noticeable taking pictures and not stare at them the whole time. Paula did notice me and said something about “that lady sitting near us,” to Eric, but she never saw my camera and didn’t think anything of it other than me being a weird stranger in the garden! haha
They got up from their bench and walked over to the water to where Eric and I had decided he would ask her. I stayed seated and waited to get up until he was ready to pop the question. At that point, I don’t care if the girls see me taking pictures since they are so caught up in the moment anyways. Plus, at that point it doesn’t matter!
Paula emphatically said yes and we celebrated their Canoe proposal with a mini engagement session afterwards and they had dinner together at the restaurant. Congratulations to Paula and Eric. Thanks for having me capture this sweet moment in your lives.
