Gregory and Rhonda had a whirlwind proposal! Gregory contacted me a month or so prior for his Piedmont Park proposal to Rhonda. He lives in Florida and found me on Google. He had originally discussed going to Atlanta Botanical Garden for their proposal, but ultimately decided that we would do a Piedmont Park proposal.
I always like to meet my guys in person before their proposal, but since Gregory lived in Florida, he wouldn’t be able to meet me in person for his Piedmont Park proposal. We decided I didn’t need to go since I had been there a ton. He looked at my blog to choose a specific spot he wanted based on pictures I had taken there before. He picked a spot that was actually right by the parking garage and super easy to get to, so I pulled up a map and drew the location and we were good to go… or so we thought!
I had an engagement session down that way a week before his proposal, so I figured I’d go into the park for a quick video recording to show him exactly where it would be. It’s less than a 3 minute walk from the parking garage, but when I got there, it was closed down with tape and temporary fencing to block off this spot! I am SO glad I went! We wouldn’t have discovered this snafu in their Piedmont Park proposal had I not shown up. I proceeded to walk around the park with my camera on and took videos of me walking around with different location ideas. I sent the videos to Gregory for him to look over and decide.
Ultimately, we decided to do them at probably one of the most iconic spots for a Piedmont Park proposal. It has the city in the background and is a beautiful spot! However, the morning of the proposal it was raining and not just a little bit. It was pouring. They only had that morning for their proposal, so we were frantically trying to figure out backups (we had discussed some ahead of time) and decided that we would try for the park still. It was raining on and off all morning, so much so that when I parked my car, it wasn’t raining, but while I was waiting, it was. By the time they showed up (after getting lost a bit), it had stopped again!
The biggest upside of it all was the fact that no one was in the park for their Piedmont Park proposal! With it raining, we literally had the entire park to ourselves! It was amazing! And wouldn’t you know? It stopped raining after that and we were able to do their mini engagement session right afterwards! It worked out perfectly! It turned out to be a perfect morning for everyone!
I love rainy day photos! You captured the proposal so perfectly!
