I am happy to share this week’s Feature Me Friday Vendor: Cathy Nugent Weddings! I first met Cathy last fall right after she had moved to Atlanta. She found the Pursuit Atlanta group that I lead of Christian women creatives. I knew she was new the city and wanted to make some connections, so I invited her over to my house for coffee and we immediately hit it off.
I saw quickly that despite being new in the industry and city, she blogged consistently with good and informative content. You might often see me share her blog posts to my Facebook page! Because of her awesome blogging skills, she and I teamed up to do a blogging class with a group of women. I loved getting to work with her and teach this fun class to women in the industry. Due to some scheduling issues we had, we had a smaller crowd, so I hope that we can do it together again with a larger group next time.
Cathy is an amazing planner who loves on her clients the way I try to do with mine. I love seeing her heart at work and how much she does for her clients. She always has a smile on her face and her sweet old Texas accent makes everything sound super sweet.
1) What is your name and what is the name of your business?
Cathy Nugent & Cathy Nugent Weddings
2) What service does your business provide?
Wedding Planning (Partial and Complete), Day-of (aka Month-of) Wedding Coordination, and Styling and Design. I also offer additional services such as Calligraphy and Envelope Addressing, Set-up and Decoration Services, as well as Party and Shower Planning!
3) How many years have you been in business?
I have officially been in the business less than a year ; Unofficially about 2 years.
4) What got you into the wedding business?
I got into the wedding business because I simply fell in love with weddings and how I could help people. When I was in college I had the opportunity to help my friends plan their weddings, and I got to be involved in the planning of family members’ weddings. When I met my now-husband, I fell in love with weddings even more as I got to plan my own best-day-ever. However, I would look around and see brides acting like their engagement was a prescription for stress! As I began to help more and more brides plan their day, I realized I wanted to go into wedding planning with my wish of making every bride’s dream day a reality.
5) Who in the wedding industry inspires you?
I find myself extremely inspired by wedding photographers in the wedding industry. If you look through my Instagram, I can bet you that 99% of the accounts I follow are photographers. As a planner, I am a sucker for the little details that come together to make a wedding come to life. The way they are able to capture the details of a wedding never ceases to leave me breathless from the beauty of their work.
6) What is your favorite thing about a wedding day?
My favorite part of the wedding day is seeing the excitement of the bride and groom after they’ve just gotten married. I am a firm believer that everyone deserves to have their best-day-ever on their wedding day, and being able to help bring a couple’s dream wedding day to life is one of the most rewarding things I have ever done. It makes my heart so full to know that they will remember nothing but how amazing their day truly was – because they got married! All of the stress I may have faced getting everything perfect melts away when I see the smiles on their faces. It’s one of my favorite things in the whole world.
7) If you weren’t working in the wedding industry, what would you be doing?
If I wasn’t working in the wedding industry, there’s no doubt that I would be wishing I did! I would probably be still working in marketing and advertising, but I would definitely still be blogging and dabbling in my crafts and calligraphy on the side (but still dreaming of owning my own creative business!) I have dreamed of owning my own creative business for a long time, and I wouldn’t trade it for the world!
