Feature Me Friday

Last year at the Georgia Bridal Show, I had the opportunity to meet with an awesome Atlanta Videographer, Sam Welbourn Films. Sam and his wife took the time to chat with me and share about his growing business and their recent move to Athens, Georgia. I had such a great time getting to know them and hear about their passion for wedding videography. They finished their job with Cirque Du Soliel last year, so I haven’t had the chance to personally work with him at a wedding yet, but I look forward to the opportunity soon! His kind demeanor and professionalism speak to his quality of work.

Sam’s background at Cirque Du Soliel flows into his ability to film weddings. He is so creative and comes up with some of the most amazing videos for his couples. I always love watching his highlight videos that he posts on his Facebook page. They are so well done and make me wish that we had hired a wedding videographer for my wedding nine years ago!

If you’re looking for a wedding videographer, then Sam is your guy!

1) What is your business name?
Sam Welbourn Films

2) What service does your business provide?
wedding and event videography

3) How many years have you been in business?
4 years

4) What got you into the wedding industry?
My wife and I got married in a beautiful garden venue in California and had friends of ours shoot the photo and take videos. We were not planning on having the video done because of our budget, but we were told we should find the money and definitely have a video done. The first time we watched it we were completely blown away by how every detail of the day was captured. The music, the emotion, the joy, and I immediately thought to myself, “I want to do that!” I want to be able to capture events and weddings that people can enjoy and watch over and over again forever. So I talked to friends, did some research, learned about the industry and bought myself a camera. I did a bunch of freebies for people until my confidence grew, and I know I just want to be the best I can be.

5) Who in the wedding industry inspires you?
As I mentioned previously, my friend Corey Fox and Johnny B Hicks who shot my wedding are my inspiration. They are the reason I am where I am today. Not only are they super talented and the nicest guys I have ever met, but they were always there to help when I needed and pushed me to follow my dreams! I also have my wife and my baby girl as my inspiration. They are both incredibly important in my life and I push everyday to make them proud.

6) What’s your favorite part of the wedding day?
I think the best part of the weddings are the families. Whatever is going on in life this is the one day where all is forgotten and only love and pride shines brightest. It’s such an amazing feeling to be part of such a joyful and capture the emotions of family and friends.

7) If you weren’t working in the wedding industry, what would you be doing?
I would probably be still performing with Cirque Du Soliel. Since a very early age I did competitive gymnastics and at the young age of 16 performed in my first show. Over the years I did shows all over the world from stunt shows to Circus. I know what ya thinking… what a cool job, why give it up? Well after 17 years of doing high level acrobatics it takes a big toll on the body and after many injuries I just couldn’t keep going.
