At the beginning of the year, I asked my husband if he would be okay if I possibly shot a wedding on our anniversary this year. For the second time in our 10 years of being married, our anniversary falls on a Saturday. I prepped him ahead of time that I would probably get an inquiry and possibly a wedding, so before I responded to any inquiries, I needed to know if I was going to turn down the date or not. This will be our 11 year anniversary, so we decided since it wasn’t a milestone anniversary that it would be okay for me to be gone working. Well Jenna emailed me back in January about her wedding this fall to Tanner and low and behold, they had my anniversary date! Jenna and I talked on the phone one afternoon and I immediately loved her! We forewent the in person consultation because they both currently live in Jacksonville, FL, so she emailed me a week later and wanted to book me! I am so excited! I get to have anniversary twins! And not only that, I’ll also be shooting another wedding the next day on the 18th! It will be a fun wedding weekend for sure!
We spent months (yes, months) emailing and texting back and forth trying to decide where to do their pictures. We discussed Savannah, Charleston, and even Cloudland Canyon in North Georgia; but due to Tanner’s schedule with the Navy, we were unable to get a destination engagement session done before he deploys at the beginning of April. We decided to do their session up here in Atlanta somewhere. The day of their session, they drove up from Jacksonville and they still hadn’t picked a spot yet! They were debating between a field/farm location in Kennesaw and the Roswell Mill. Well, they decided on the mill! I laugh because we literally had talked about going to Charleston and we ended up at the location closest to my house and one that I shoot at the most! I love the mill, so I was happy they found a location they liked!
Jenna and Tanner’s engagement session last week was so much fun! I always challenge myself at a location I go to often to try and find a new spot to take pictures so that I don’t fall into a rut and take the same pictures at each of these locations. Jenna and Tanner’s session was no different! I found a few new spots at their session that I have never shot before AND we also did something I’ve never done with a couple at the mill- we got in the water! I was so excited when they said yes to my suggestion! Usually, the Roswell Mill is full of lots of people, but on this March day, it was pretty and not that cold; but the water was cold of course! And yes, I got in the water as well! It was freezing for sure, but totally worth the 5 minutes of cold for forever awesome pictures!
I cannot wait until their wedding in November! We are going to have so much fun! Good luck with your deployment, Tanner, and thank you for your service! See you in November for the wedding!
I loved this spot! I had never shot here before at the Roswell Mill! I did a little happy dance when I saw this on the back of camera! YAY! 🙂 Ahhhhh!! Sheer perfection!
