Engagement Sessions

I met Anna Marie and Austin for the first time last weekend for their Providence Canyon engagement session, though they booked me earlier in the year for their wedding next April at The Greystone Estate. They booked me through the venue since I am a preferred vendor there. I love being a preferred vendor at The Greystone Estate as they are such an amazing venue with some amazing people to work with! If you follow me regularly, you have seen a handful of Greystone weddings!

For their engagement pictures, we had originally discussed doing pictures at the Roswell Mill as I shoot there often and they love the look and feel of the location, but I threw out the idea of possibly doing something very different. It would require a nearly 6 hour roundtrip to the location! For years I have been wanting to do Providence Canyon engagement pictures, and earlier this summer I visited Providence Canyon for the first time with Levi on our camping road trip. I loved this location and just knew that I had to make it down there at some point again for photography purposes; so I threw out the idea of possibly traveling for their session. They loved the idea of having Providence Canyon engagement pictures! YAY!

Providence Canyon is a state park in the state and is actually nicknamed the Little Grand Canyon. It’s the result of over farming back in the 1800’s which resulted in the land giving way to create this amazing series of canyons. There are nine canyon slots in total. The canyon soil’s pink, orange, red and purple colors make a beautiful natural painting, which is what made me want to do Providence Canyon engagement pictures there. When Levi and I went this summer, we spent 3 hours there and only hit canyons 1 and 2! It’s easy to go down and spend all day exploring and checking out the location.

So we met last Sunday at 1pm to travel down to Lumpkin, GA for some Providence Canyon engagement pictures! We got to chat and get to know each other on the way down. I have never spent so much time with a couple on their engagement session, but we spent nearly 9 hours together that day in order to get their Providence Canyon engagement pictures. Getting to hang out with them at their wedding, I’ll spend less time then! haha.

We hit a little rain on the way down, but we were blessed with a perfect day with perfect weather once we got down there! It’s a slight hike from the canyon rim to get down into the canyon below, so I told them to bring hiking shoes and then they could change into some nicer shoes for pictures. They were INCREDIBLE! I had them climbing up and down lots of parts of the canyon to get their pictures. They were game for pretty much anything I asked of them, and their epic Providence Canyon engagement pictures are the result! I know I’ll have to make it down there again one day for another session. This one was amazing!
