If you have followed me for some time, you have probably seen me shooting at The Greystone Estate, a Ballground wedding venue, a handful of times before. In fact, I had just shot there the month prior for Kelsey and AJ’s wedding. I always LOVE going back to The Greystone Estate. Their team is incredible and the owner, Mary, has such a heart to serve her brides and make their day amazing. I’m heading back there again in April for Anna Marie and Austin’s wedding and can’t wait! It’s my favorite Ballground wedding venue to travel to hands down! Shea and Kyle found me, because I’m a preferred vendor at the venue, which is a big part of why I shoot there as much as I do! I’m so thankful for this amazing connection and this amazing venue!

Shea and Kyle met back in high school when they were in band together! They played the clarinet and saxophone and it was love a first instrument! They went to the same colleges together and recently moved back to their hometown just before their wedding. Shea and Kyle have a lot in common with my husband and me in our love for sci-fi/fantasy and board games. They’re pretty hardcore Lord of the Rings fans, so much so that they took a trip to New Zealand and got engaged at the Shire! (Well, where the movie was filmed for the Shire… but who’s noting these minor details.) Shea even told her friends prior to the trip that “Kyle better propose to me when we see the LOTR!” Well, I guess it’s a good thing he did!

I said that Shea and Kyle are board game geeks same as Joshua and me. They came in for their reveal and noted all of our board games on our bookshelves. We agreed that we will have to get together later for a game night to play some of these beloved games!

Shea and Kyle’s wedding was one for my history books with a lot of firsts for me! I have been shooting for nearly 13 years and haven’t had a wedding anything like theirs! First of all, they got married on Halloween. I haven’t ever shot a Halloween wedding. They had skeleton cake toppers! It was so cool! Kyle has played bagpipes for years and wanted to incorporate kilts into his wedding to celebrate this fact. He and all of his groomsmen wore kilts. This was also another first for me! Shea’s ring was a large sapphire. I have not seen a ring like hers before. It was so unique and cool! We got to sneak outside at the end of the night for some full blue moon shots. I have also never done anything like that before. It was such a fun day full of firsts!

Thanks Shea and Kyle for having me a part of your very special day. I loved getting to be a part of your special day! I can’t wait to get your album delivered to you! It’s gonna be epic!

Shea’s father passed when she was younger, so she wore this locket with a small picture of him inside to carry him close with her on her special day. Shea and her mom were very surprised at the wedding gift I drew for Shea and Kyle. Another first for me with how it was just so unique and looked very wild! groomsmen walking and talking groom in kilt groomsmen hugging groom bride playing with dress wedding party cheering Shea, you were stunning.     Kyle was tearing up, so his cousin kept yelling out random things like “donkey milk” or “purple skunk eggs” to make him laugh. I legitimately have never had that happen either at a wedding! It definitely had us all laughing!  Gorgeous backdrop for a ceremony! “Marriwage…” Yep. Sean started the ceremony out with the classic Princess Bride quote on “marriwage.” (voice and all!) Another first for me. I’ve never had happen before, either! Lots of tears by everyone… see the next couple of pictures!mom crying at wedding We had time for a few sunset pictures before we snuck in for the start of the reception!bride and groom in a field bride and groom in field Such a gorgeous Ballground wedding venue backdrop! bride and groom hugging bride and groom at sunset bride and groom at sunset I always laugh and love it when couples shove cake into each other’s faces! Josh and I did this and it always makes me smile! Sweet dance with her brother, Sean, who also did their ceremony! Such sweet emotions from the entire family! Party time! Bouquet toss! Before we left for the night, I snuck Shea and Kyle outside for a set of moon shots. We had so much fun!wedding moon portrait wedding couple in front of moonOff to their mini-moon!
