Kelsey and AJ’s wedding at St. Michael’s Catholic Church (as a Woodstock Wedding Photographer) and reception at The Greystone Estate was absolutely amazing! I mean y’all, I had the best time getting to know this couple! They are so sweet and genuine and just plain fun to be around! Kelsey is just a ball energy and one of the most genuine brides I have ever met. Even before I shot her wedding she was a huge cheerleader for my business! I’m so thankful for her! At their timeline meeting prior to the wedding, we met for nearly 3 hours mostly because we were just talking and hanging out!
Their wedding day included scattered rain showers throughout the day, but thankfully it never interfered with our picture taking! After the ceremony, we went to Woodstock for some portraits (allowing me to be a Woodstock wedding photographer) and it rained literally right down the road, but not where we were! An hour prior to sunset it poured at the venue, but right before our planned sunset portraits, the sun came back out just enough for some gorgeous golden hour pictures.
I make a handmade gift for all of my clients that I give them on their wedding day. It is a drawing that always relates to them as a couple whether it’s how they met, where they got married, or even a fun sports “house divided” drawing. Kelsey and AJ’s meeting was very similar to how many of my couple today meet, through a dating app; but how AJ found this app is the funny part of the story! AJ was listening to a song from Lil Dicky that mentions the dating app, Hinge, at the end of the song. He had never heard of it, so decided to check it out. Shortly after joining Hinge, AJ found Kelsey and the rest is history! So I made them a hand lettered version of this line of the song. I can say with almost certainty that this was the first time a line from a Lil Dicky song was taken and made into a pretty hand lettered drawing! haha. I shared it on my Instagram and Lil Dicky commented on the post after I had tagged him!
You’ll see Kelsey’s engagement ring in pictures below. Y’all, it is gorgeous and has a very special family history. Kelsey’s engagement ring was designed by A.J. with the main diamond coming from his Mom. The diamond was purchased by A.J.’s Dad while he was serving in Austria. The smaller diamonds surrounding the main diamond were gifted to A.J. from his Nana, Diane Scherer. Don’t just scroll by this gorgeous ring! You have to look at this pretty bling!
Kelsey and AJ, thank you so much for having me at your wedding! I loved getting to be a part of your special day! I’m glad that despite the crazy weather in the Gulf, you were able to extend your honeymoon and have a relaxing two weeks!
I was obsessed with Kelsey’s dress! Seriously, y’all, this ring is amazing! All family heirlooms! I LOVE it when my client invitations have decor on the inside of the invite. It always makes such a pretty backdrop for the rings! Aubrey and Jake’s wedding had something similar! Kelsey gifted her sweet Dad this tie with a picture of them on the back! Kesley was so excited for her special wedding gift! Everyone laughed and thought it was hilarious that I made a Lil Dicky song into a pretty hand lettered wall decoration. Sweet Mama helping Kelsey into her dress First Look time with Daddy! Helping Dad put on the special tie that she got him. First Look with bridesmaids and moms. I love their reactions! Time to head to Woodstock for portraits! Gorgeous Kelsey! I loved the buildings as a Woodstock wedding photographer! We went into Copper Coin for a chance to cool off, but also get some drinks! Kelsey and AJ enjoyed a quiet moment and a chance to drink some wine and beer from Copper Coin!A unique opportunity as a Woodstock wedding photographer to get some really cool shots! Y’all, Kelsey is amazing! She follows me on Facebook and Instagram and knows Levi’s obsession of trains. She requested to take some pictures on the back of the train specifically for Levi to see! Seriously, how sweet and amazing! (And yes, Levi LOVED seeing it! We have been to Woodstock to see this train caboose and he loves it.)On our way out of Woodstock to head back to the venue, I saw this new mural and fell in love with it! This wall alone will make me want to be a Woodstock wedding photographer every day! Back to Greystone! I’ve had many grooms have their Dad’s as their best man, but I’ve never had a bride with her Mom as Matron of Honor. I think it was such a sweet way to include Kelsey’s Mom in the day. You can tell that they are super close! Looks like Amanda said something funny? haha! We did a lot of dress twirling! Kelsey’s dress was perfect for this! I LOVED it! We snuck outside for a couple of pictures at sunset. I’m so glad it stopped raining! I am so in love with this set of pictures! Lots of fun dancing! Happy wedding to all and to all a goodnight!
