Sehar and Anup’s surprise Piedmont Park proposal is not my first one ever, but it is most definitely the most special surprise Piedmont Park proposal I’ve ever done! Why is this the case might you ask? Well, when Anup reached out to me for his proposal to Sehar, he had done just a random Google search, and found me as most of the guys do when I shoot proposals in the Atlanta and North Georgia areas. What Anup did not know is I was a former middle school teacher for a number of years and Sehar was one of my former students! Her name is so unique that the second I saw it pop up on the inquiry form I immediately knew who it was and freaked out! Sehar and I even follow each other on Instagram, so I knew who Anup was from the pictures I had seen over the years! I am mediately reached out to him, excited about the prospect of shooting a proposal for one of my former students. I have done a number of weddings at this point for my former students, but this would be my first proposal.
Obviously, as you can, tell, Anup hired me for their surprise Piedmont Park proposal, and we were so excited to start planning. What we did not realize was there was a huge festival at the park the same evening we had planned the proposal. It got added to the calendar after he had reached out to me, so neither of us thought to follow up and look again. In addition, this was during the same time we were having a ton of thunderstorms coming through Atlanta; and of course, that evening we had a major one come through shortly before we were planning to do the proposal.
Anup had Sehar do a scavenger hunt with the help of some of her friends throughout the afternoon leading up to the proposal, so for the first time ever, I had the guy standing with me waiting for her to show up. We had to wait an extra 30 minutes for the rain to let up, but thankfully the thunderstorm was a quick one that blew through. The downside was everything was wet and the usual beautiful sunset skies in Atlanta were overcast and dark, but we made it work and we had a wonderful time. She said yes! The upside was we had the whole park to ourselves thanks to the rain. Almost every single person had left the event, so while we had to deal with the rain, we did not have to deal with anyone else at the park at this point!
Congratulations, Anup and Sehar! Thank you so much for having me be there for your special moment!
Some of Sehar’s favorite snacks along with a champagne toast!I love this spot in the park for pictures! Anup brought a lock to place on a popular spot in the park that has other locks
