Rocky’s Lake Estate | Woodstock, GA | November 18, 2018
Amy and Kevin got married at the gorgeous Rocky’s Lake Estate. I met Amy last January at a bridal show and we immediately clicked! She and her mom were so much fun to meet and talk to! I was so excited when I heard she and Kevin were getting married at Rocky’s Lake Estate. I shot a wedding there a couple of years ago, so I knew the venue; but they had some awesome renovations and additions to the venue since shooting there that make the venue even more amazing! I loved the additions that Rocky’s Lake Estate made to the venue!
Amy wanted to include Kevin in the photography decision, but living in Nashville made it a little harder for us to get together for a meeting, so we did a FaceTime meeting. Kevin and I immediately connected when I saw him wearing his Captain America T-shirt. I think they hired me because Kevin liked me just because of that… haha. Kevin loves his super heroes so much that the groomsmen had super hero shirts under their tuxes as well as super hero socks. I finally got to meet the two of them together at their engagement session a couple of months later. We had such a great time, and I couldn’t wait for their wedding day.
Amy and Kevin wanted to have a unique unity ceremony, so they chose to combine two different types of tea leaves together in the same kettle. During the ceremony they served each other this tea, as Christ served others, and then they were committing themselves to being 2 individuals united together (tea steeping symbolism). It was such a sweet ceremony with lots of sweet and happy tears. Amy grew up skipping with her dad at various times throughout her life, so they skipped down the aisle part of the way together. It was a fun and cute tradition they had together that made their day super fun and super cute.
And y’all, they had a fire dancer at the end of the night! It was the coolest thing ever! In my 10 years of photographing weddings, I had never seen something like this before. They had her come at the end of the night right before the send-off and boy was it ever a send off!
Thanks so much for Amy and Kevin for having Evie and me a part of your special day. We had such a fun time and I am truly blessed to have been a part of your wedding!
